Oulsnam Design recently completed work at Manchester’s historic Midland Hotel, creating a stylish new cocktail bar and lounge in the old Octagon Bar.
Barry Britland and his team from Stage One Solutions worked on site to put lead designer David Oulsnam’s vision into practice.
Working alongside furniture makers Style Matters, Oulsnam Design carefully selected a collection of luxurious fabrics to compliment the chosen furniture, creating an Art Deco style interior which has been a huge talking point since its recent opening.
A striking teal blue was chosen for the walls, which has helped tie the room together. Working closely with bar specialists Servaclean, a new octagon shaped bar was installed, with a feature illuminated central backfitting in a clean art deco style.
Resident manager Andrew Krawec admitted that the new colour scheme has been a huge talking point and attraction saying “There’s been a lot of talk after people saw the colour going up, asking ‘is that going to work?’” But we were confident enough to say “just wait until it’s finished and you’ll see what we’ve done!”
QHotels wanted a feature making of the Midland Hotels historic Octagon bar, and with the newly renovated Midland Bar & Lounge, Oulsnam Design has provided just that.
